For Current Vendors

The Monroe Village Farmers Market is a producer only market, which requires that all products sold be grown or produced within 100 miles of the Monroe Village neighborhood.

Our market is committed to providing food to the widest possible range of shoppers both to create greater access to the market and to increase sales for market vendors. Therefore, we participate in the Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP coupons issued by the state), and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program), which administers benefits through an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system. This system allows shoppers to purchase $1wooden market tokens from the managers' tent, which can be used to purchase a wide range of goods from participating vendors.

A couple of important notes:

  • EBT tokens may be accepted for purchases of fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs and poultry, dairy products, baked goods, jams and jellies, honey and maple products, apple cider, grape juice, and other processed foods for human consumption, as well as plants or seeds used to grow food for human consumptions. EBT tokens may not be accepted for:
    • wine
    • ornamental plants
    • cut flowers
    • wool products
    • other non-food items
    • prepared foods (hot or cold) for immediate consumption such as coffee, sandwiches, wraps and hot apple cider
  • FMNP checks may be accepted for locally grown fresh fruits and vegetablesONLY. They may NOT be accepted for:
    • apple cider
    • grape juice
    • eggs
    • cheese
    • jam
    • honey
    • maple syrup
    • baked goods
    • painted pumpkins
    • ornamental gourds
    • plants (including potted herbs) or flowers
  • No change can be given for purchases made using EBT tokens or FMNP checks. If a purchase is for less than the value of a token or a check ($1.00 or $4.00, respectively), or a multiple thereof, either the vendor adds products to make up the difference or the customer uses cash for that purpose.
