PREVIOUSLY AT THE MARKET

Heavy rain dampened the opening hour of the market last week. But slowly it cleared and a large number of shoppers eventually stopped by!

Maxine, Dora, and Michele look at a funny video on the Market's Facebook page.

Slowly, at first, a few brave shoppers appeared.

Then a lot of people showed up and kept the vendors busy til closing time..

Timber Buck had a very busy day..

At GG Bakes, Denise kept her poncho even after the rain stopped..

We remembered this umbrella from last year.

Some people just love the rain and puddles!

At the Community Tent, Bill answered questions about Metro Justice and gave away tickets to the Labor Series movies at the Dryden Theater..

COMMUNITY TENT THIS WEEK

Eastern Service Workers Assoc.

Members and volunteers of Eastern Service Workers Association (ESWA) will be with us on Wednesday to recruit volunteers to assist in their annual Back-to-School Campaign. Volunteers are needed to organize collections of clothes, shoes and school supplies. The work of the campaign aids low-income service workers and families save money for necessary expenses. ESWA represents the needs and interests of service workers in Monroe County. To be a part of the Back-to-School Campaign or to help low-income workers join together with others to stop government policies that perpetuate poverty conditions, call (585) 654-9640 and ask for Bill McDonough.

RECIPE FOR THIS WEEK

Selected by Maxine Manjos

Stuffed Winter Squash

What a versatile recipe this is! It encourages you to just go to it with so many different kinds of things that you have on hand (and need to use up). Keep this one in mind for those greens that are languishing in the refrigerator or that box of millet or any other grain that you bought. What were you thinking? You will feel so much better about those mistakes you made. How many recipes can do that?

Click on the link below and remember to keep this one in mind throughout the fall and winter.

EBT, SNAP, FOOD STAMPS

The market has always welcomed shoppers in the various State and Federal supplemental nutrition programs. Farmers at our Market accept tokens and some coupons. See the Market-Day supervisor; bring your EBT card.

See USDA SNAP guidelines for more information.
