Last week, a rainy day kept some neighbors at home, but many waited for the dry spells to come out to visit vendors and goats. The Market is open rain or shine unless the weather is dangerous.

Glenn Alexander produced a short video about the Market on a rainy day:

The baby goats that Kim of Clover Meadow Creamery brings every week always get a lot of attention from children and adults. They are soft and love to be cuddled. Kim likes to give urbanites the chance to see and touch a farm animal.

Kim shows off this week's baby goat.

Petra knitted a goat to serve as a mascot for the Market.

The knitted goat will need a name.

Jeanne and Gerard Weber have a busy schedule with gigs all around Monroe County. They played under the Music Tent last week.

Tomato Chickpea Salad

I caught on a while ago that an easy way to boost the protein in a salad is to add some chickpeas. This recipe surprised me because of an added that step that can really enhance the flavor: cooking the chickpeas in a little oil until they are slightly blistered. How far you go with this step is up to you, but a mildly charred bean can put a little unexpected oomph into salads-- they can get a little routine, can't they? Here's a way to add a new flavor.

Click on the link below to find out about the technique for blistering chickpeas.

The market has always welcomed shoppers in the various State and Federal supplemental nutrition programs. Farmers at our Market accept tokens and some coupons. See the Market-Day supervisor; bring your EBT card.
