Hello market shoppers! A bit of news--we have a new website with significantly improved content and a better look. Please go check it out here. Among other things, we've added more information about our vendors, musicians, artists, and community groups, a community page with--eventually--lots of pix (send us yours please!), and a recipe blog. We know you must be cookin' up some tasty meals with all the good stuff you get at the market--so how about sharing? Submit a recipe here. Go to the website to comment on the recipes already there. We all love to talk about food.

Remember, this is a community farmers' market. That means it belongs to you. We want to hear from you--what's good, what's bad, what's new. Contact us with comments. And if you want to get more involved, we'd love to have you. Volunteer

scallions_and_greensreduced.jpgOn Wednesday, June 29, we will still have fresh, sweet strawberries for sale. Get them now while they last--berries are one of the joys of summer. You'll also find zucchini, all kinds of greens, fabulous baguettes, eggs, snap peas, goat cheese and delicious baked goods. Try a smoothie or a cup of coffee, and listen to the music. The Monroe Village Farmers Market is more than just a place to shop--it's the place to be, rain or shine, we have fun.

Moja will join us this week with roots, americna and international music. Moja means One in Swahili and Moja's music is brings together musicians interested in exploring the musical elements of Celtic, Middle eastern, Indian, and Americana music and integrating some of those elements into original songs and covers. Come check them out! Moja

This week Suzanne Martin and Donna McCarthy of Spectacular 2 Designs are returning with beaded jewelery, ploymer clay pens and eyeglass chains and more. Stop by and say hi. These ladies are fun and friendly. Spectacular 2 Designs

Monroe Village Farmers' Market

The Monroe Village Farmers' Market is for everyone. Please share the newsletter with your friends and neighbors!

Hope to see you Wednesday.

In the meantime, here's a great new recipe from our market manager Michael Wells:

Strawberry Pancake Topping

1 cup fresh picked strawberries

1 tbsp butter

1 tbsp brown sugar

1/8 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 cup water

1/2 tsp xanthan gum

Start off with a small pot over medium heat. Add the hulled and quartered strawberries along with the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and water. Simmer and stir regularly for 8 - 10 minutes until the berries soften and the liquid begin to bubble slightly. Slowly add xanthan gum, stirring constantly until dissolved. Let simmer for another 5 minutes until it begins to thicken.

Designed for use on your favorite pancake or waffles, but take a try on fresh vanilla ice cream!
